Concurso Arquine No. 23 l Meeting Point
Project: 2020
A Meeting Point, a place where a group of people meet on a regular basis, or simply a designated place where people can gather. For the 23rd Arquine Architectural Competition, the chosen design for the “Meeting Point” emerged from the literal definition and form of the concept.
The architecture of the pavilion takes shape through four mirrored, identical curved walls, which create a central space between them. This configuration generates an intimate area for the user, a place for meditation and appreciation, while also embodying the main idea of a meeting point. On the outer curves, generated by the cross-shaped form of the pavilion, four agoras are created, providing the opportunity for a “meeting place” where users can gather around. In a simpler sense, this gives the pavilion a real meaning for the city as what it truly is, a meeting point.
The materials chosen for the pavilion consist of specially shaped prefabricated grey concrete bricks, connected by aluminium tubes and highlighted by a chromed ring with tilting steel cables that frame the interior space of the pavilion.
